“Lifeblood is a snapshot of the creative community based at SQ1 Studios in Sydney’s inner west Alexandria.. Joanna Cole paints in a studio with in the community along with fellow artists Margaret Ackland, Stephen Bird, Jacqueline Butterworth, Melissa Chalker, Lada Dedić, Amy Dynan, Angus Gardner, Rowena Grace, Vicki Grima, Megan Hales, Shaun Hayes, Dominique Hindmarsh, Ian Hobbs, Gareth Jenkins, Owen Leong, Pamela Leung, Montessa Maack, Clare Nicholson, Sophi Odling, Alison Peters, Beth Radford, Natalie Rosin, Ralph Stanton, Ingrid Wahlstrom, Val Wens & Yioryios.” Sean Morris runs the space and curated this show to celebrate the diverse range of responses to the theme. For Cole, the heat of the South Australian summer, the rural landscape and family connections represent the heartbeat underneath her creative inspiration.
